FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tulsa Chorale hosts Christmas concert November 21 at Tulsa Performing Arts Center, first in-person performance since pandemic shutdown
TULSA, OKLA – Tulsa Chorale will present its annual Christmas concert November 21 at 7:30 pm at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center’s (PAC) Chapman Music Hall. This will be the first live concert presented at the PAC since the pandemic shutdown in early spring.
“The program will be sung with the musicians all socially distanced on the large stage,” says Dr. Tim Sharp, Artistic Director for Tulsa Chorale. “The audience will also be spread out according to social distancing guidelines. Masks will be worn by all audience members, singers and players. We will have the option for tickets to be purchased for either the in-person performance or a live stream of the concert.”
The concert is Tulsa Chorale’s seasonal musical gift to the Tulsa community, which this year comes in the premiere of a new choral work by the chorus’s own Artistic Director, Tim Sharp, and Timothy Michael Powell, Angel Band.
“Angel Band tells the Christmas story through 10 rarely heard songs and original composition,” Dr. Sharp says. “We use Appalachian sounds and early hymn tunes to give it a distinctive American flavor. Our instrumentation is a chamber orchestra of 12 instruments including string quartet, harp, flute, hammer dulcimer, mandolin, guitar, and percussion.”
Tickets are 20 dollars, with options for attending the performance in person or viewing from home via live-stream. They can be purchased by visiting tulsachorale.org or at the door. Doors open 2 hours before the concert.
Tulsa Chorale is a nonprofit chorus comprised of nearly 100 auditioned singers from diverse professional backgrounds. The mission of the chorus is to inspire our community through passionate choral performance experiences.
