For much of the month of July, the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus ruled a Greek island.

Forty-four members of the chorus, along with artistic director Tim Sharp, were featured performers at the International Festival of the Aegean, held on the island of Syros, about 80 miles southeast of Athens.

Sharp also served as the principal guest conductor for the festival, which included performances of orchestral and choral music, as well as opera, theater, ballet and film.

“We were certainly the most engaged group at the festival, after the orchestra,” Sharp said. “And as we were there for about two full weeks, members of the chorus would get recognized when they went about the town.”
