Revisionist Future: A Choral Celebration

Join Tulsa Chorale for a FREE online performance of “A Mass for Peace” by Karl Jenkins, a vocal reflection on “Revisionist Future,” an art exhibit currently being showcased at Ahha Tulsa (read more about this exhibit below).
The performance will feature interview segments with the exhibit’s artists along with five short movements from “A Mass for Peace” by Karl Jenkins, sung by Tulsa Chorale, with pianist Lyndon Myer and conductor Dr. Tim Sharp. The movements juxtaposed throughout the program are “The Armed Man,” Kyrie, Sanctus, Agnus Dei, and Benedictus.
As we begin to anticipate the 100-year commemoration of the Tulsa Race Massacre and look toward our commemorative performance on May 7, we hope this collaboration will inspire the Tulsa community to learn more about the events that took place in our city and get involved in creating a better future.
*Please note: Your individualized access code can be used to watch the premiere on 3/26 at 7:00 pm or view the performance anytime after.

“On March 5, Ahha Tulsa debuted Revisionist Future, a new exhibition featuring work by local artists Antonio Andrews (No Parking Studios) and Alexander Tamahn. With Revisionist Future, Andrews and Tamahn are eager to spread a message of inclusion that focuses on a pivotal moment in history: the city of Tulsa in 2021. Together, the artists strive to channel the past energy of Black Wall Street into a body of work that envisions a just future.
The title Revisionist Future points to the idea of long-term goals. The artists ponder how 10, 25, or even 50-year plans could help solidify the future they wish to see. The work in this exhibition also celebrates the vibrant energy of Black Tulsa entrepreneurs nearly 100 years after the
1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The artists share a goal of engaging Tulsa’s community of new Black entrepreneurs through the exhibition, and local business owners and brands will be showcased in the work.
Revisionist Future will be featured in Ahha Tulsa’s main gallery space through April 24.”
